Portrait of Ernest Hoschede and his daughter Marthe

After Manet's death, the portrait was acquired by Hoschede. Subsquently, after his death(1891), it passed to his wife Alice, who later became Mme. Cluade Monet. The picture, therefore, was for several years at Monet's house in Giverny.
