Painted at Gennevilliers on the Seine opposite Argenteuil where Manet spent the summer of 1874 as the guest of his cousin, Jules de Jouy. The models were Rudolph Leenhoff, Manet's brother-in-law, and an unknown woman who often went boating with them. |
